Corporate Social Responsibility

Attention to territory and local communities, as well as interest and direct involvement in issues on a global scale are essential elements for all companies that operate internationally and have sustainable growth as main goal.
Starting from these assumptions, SMI shares, supports and promotes the ten principles of the United Nations' Global Compact, a voluntary initiative of social responsibility including more than 9,000 companies all over the world for:

  • defense of human rights: the SMI Group supports and respects the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights, making sure it is not, not even indirectly, complicit in any abuse of human rights
  • protection of labor standards: the SMI Group upholds the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining, support the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor and child labor and fights against any form of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation
  • environmental protection: the SMI Group has adopted a precautionary approach to environmental challenges and has undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility
  • fight against corruption: the SMI Group works against corruption in all its forms
