ASW 80 ERGON - Film shrink wrappers up to 80 ppm

The ASW ERGON range has different models of compact shrink wrappers with single lane 90º product infeed.

The ASW shrink wrappers are suitable to pack a wide range of cylindrical, oval or square/rectangular containers at a speed of max. 80 packs/minute, according to the machine model and the type of product to be handled.

The models of this series stand out for their compact structure that is easily adapted to the logistic end of line conditions and for fast and easy changeover, thanks to the single-lane infeed.

1A system with a single lane infeed facilitates the correct laning of the loose containers on the conveyor. In the section where the pack format is formed, a group of dividing bars group the containers in a linear and continuous way; in this section a twin belt system separates the products according to the format in production through an electronic cam.

2Then, thanks to the rotating infeed, loose products are pushed by the single lane conveyor to the multi-lane conveyor. The unwinding of the film is controlled by brushless motors (one for each reel), that ensure the precise and continuous adjustment of the film tensioning. The film tensioning is controlled by a piston.

3When the operating film reel is over, a manual sealing bar joins the films. The film is cut by a knife blade controlled by direct-drive brushless motor, wrapped around the group of containers and overlapped on the bottom of the pack.

4The pack enters the shrink tunnel, characterized by the use of one fan for each meter of tunnel, with the advantage of improving the shrinking quality and by side panels that can be disassembled, thus making the maintenance operations easier.

  • The machine is equipped with sliding protection doors in anodised aluminium featuring a rounded shape which let all the motors (featuring low energy consumption) be placed externally if compared to the mechanical groups they activate. The closing system of doors is equipped with a slow-down device, which accompanies the door smoothly in its final phase of closure
  • Absence of gearboxes and prevailing employment of ICOS brushless motors equipped with digital servo-driver integrated into the motor

  • Automatic centring system for printed film provided with marks
  • The shrink tunnel features state-of-the-art technical solutions reducing energy consumption and ensuring an eco-friendly working process. The tunnel conveyor belt is made up of fibreglass bars, driven by side chains (®SMI). Thanks to the precise analysis of thermodynamic phenomena generated by the shrink process, the tunnel distributes hot air flows in an efficient and homogeneous way on the pack, thus ensuring its excellent quality at the end of the process. Shrink resistances are positioned on the side walls of the tunnel

Compact and ergonomic structure

Loose products get to the machine on a single-lane conveyor belt; as a consequence a divider is not necessary to lane the products. This enables to reduce the costs, as well as the space occupied by the conveyor line. Furthermore, the frame is ergonomic and functional and this enables the operator to carry out easily all activities related to use and maintenance of the installation.

Easy and quick changeover

The single lane infeed offers the advantage of working lots of different kinds of containers, with different sizes, without having to have additional belt equipment. Therefore, format changeover is much faster and easier, as there is no need to regulate the guides on the different lanes.

Product preservation and stability

Product separation doesn't stress the loose product, since this operation is carried out through dosing belts (without pneumatic push-down and/or stopping devices); this allows to preserve the container shape and ensures an enhanced pack stability during the separation.

Operational flexibility

SMI machines can package a wide range of products in several pack collations, so as to effectively meet the end user's current and future requirements. Moreover, each machine can be equipped with additional devices, which increase its basic functions and ensure a high level of customization of the final package.

Easy and low-cost maintenance

The rounded protection doors of ERGON models allow broader space inside the machine and thus the motors can be mounted externally on the machine side edges. Therefore, they are easily accessible and reachable for maintenance. Actually, the operator doesn't need to enter the internal parts of the shrink wrapper when carrying out manual interventions.

Film-cutting unit equipped with direct drive motorization that allows to easily carry out motor maintenance and reduce maintenance operations.

User-friendly operator panel

The POSYC® control panel, sliding on tracks running the whole length of the machine, is a user-friendly system that enables an easy and efficient use of the packaging machine. This is possible thanks to intuitive interface, a touch screen display and diagnosis functions and real-time technical support available on the POSYC®.

Easy-Open

Cardboard multipack sleevers

The Easy-Open system can be installed both on the SK shrinkwrappers and on the CM combined packers. It consists of a device piercing the film during the cutting operation, in order to create the required mark.

It can pierce two types of marks, “I”-shaped and “H”-shaped, and is available both for single and double lane production. Thanks to the Easy Open system, the customer’s level of satisfaction is definitely improved, because of the easier opening of the pack.

Moreover, this application does not require any specific packaging materials and, therefore, allows to obtain eye-catching packs without additional costs.
